Tired, feeling bloated and ready for a fresh start?

Then a body detox is just right for you!

A body detox helps you regain your energy and strength. It boosts your metabolism and helps you cleanse yourself of the toxins of the past months.

But what exactly is a detox and which vitamins & minerals should you definitely not miss out on?

Read the article & get ready to hit the reset button.

1. What is Body Detox?

For sure, you have heard the term detox many times, and maybe you have even already played with the idea of doing a detox. But what exactly does detox mean?Detox is a way to cleanse the body of the effects of an unhealthy diet, stress-induced hormone toxicity and environmental pollutants.

Toxins can accumulate due to unhealthy diet, alcohol, smoking, polluted air or stress, for example. It is therefore a diet in which you consciously avoid acid-forming foods, sugar, alcohol, coffee and cigarettes. You focus on a healthy diet, stress-free time, enough sleep. It's also a good time to do a smartphone or social media detox. The frequency and duration of the detox diet can be chosen according to your preferences.

2. When do you need a detox?

Did you know that your body not only takes in nutrients every day, but also foreign substances? These include pharmaceuticals, environmental toxins, food additives, but also various substances of plant metabolism. Toxins can also be produced to some degree in the human body itself, such as bacterial overpopulation in the intestines or a limitation of digestive capacity. Stress factors such as inflammation, infection, oxygen deprivation, etc. lead to increased free radicals, which in turn can destroy important biomolecules. Most foreign substances that humans ingest through food are fat-soluble and are therefore easily absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract. In order to be excreted by the kidneys and through the bile, these substances must be converted to a water-soluble state.

Our main detoxification organs are the liver, kidneys, intestines, skin and lungs, which always ensure that the body cleanses itself of environmental toxins.

However, when the detoxification organs are overworked or not fully functioning due to an illness, an adjusted diet and a few days of relief can go a long way.

Common warning signs are: a pale skin, you feel listless, drained and the body is more susceptible to illness.

3. What does a body detox look like?

There are many different detox diets and forms of how you can detox.

For example, juice fasting is popular, where those fasting drink at least 2.5 litres of water or herbal tea and the only food they consume is detox smoothies.

Others ban only hyperacidifying foods such as meat, cheese, sweets, white flour products and alcohol. Or they recommend drinking one or more cups of a special detox tea daily. Still others work with detox powders and patches.

Often, a detox diet corresponds toalkaline fasting. This means cutting out acid-forming foods such as meat, grains, coffee, alcohol and sugar. Alkaline foods such as fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts and seeds are allowed. Typically, a home detox regimen lasts one to two weeks.

No matter what type of detox you choose, proper preparation is the key to success. It is best to eat a healthy, alkaline diet a few days before starting the detox. Also, you should be aware that while a detox diet is a way to rid yourself of toxins, it is important that you live a healthy lifestyle afterwards.A balanced lifestyle, drinking enough water, stress management and regular exercise are important for your health and well-being.

4. Which vitamins & minerals are especially important in a body detox?

Make sure you eat enough nutrients during the detox. They are vital and help with detoxification. Find out which vitamins and minerals are especially important.

B Vitamins

In a nutshell, detoxification takes place in two phases. In phase 1, our body's enzymes neutralize toxins by converting them into less harmful ones. If these toxins get accumulated in the liver, they can still cause harm. Therefore, the job of phase 2 is to neutralize the toxins and convert them to a water-soluble form, so they can be eliminated from the body.

The B vitamins  help to support the detoxification pathways. They are essential for the detox phase 1.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. It helps to strengthen our immune system, fight disease-causing free radicals and minimize damage to our cells. It is therefore a very important vitamin that should not be missing in your detox. Our highly effective Natural Vitamin C formula  is made from 100% natural superfood fruit extracts and perfectly supports you in detoxing.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is another very powerful antioxidant. It protects our cells and prevents chronic diseases. It also helps reduce inflammation in the body and strengthen our immune system.

Magnesium

Magnesium  is an important mineral for our overall health. It plays a key role in the flushing of toxins from our body. It cannot be produced by the organism itself. Therefore, we must take it in sufficient amounts through food or supplements.

Zinc

Zinc  is best known for fighting colds and strengthening our bones, but it is also a powerful immune-boosting antioxidant.

To prevent colds and lack of energy, it is important that we include zinc in our diet on a regular basis and not just when we already feel tired.

Selenium

Selenium is another mineral that plays a key role in detoxification. While selenium deficiency is rare, it can occur in people with chronic diseases that hinder nutrient absorption.

5. What do you have to keep in mind during the Body Detox?

No matter what type of detox diet you choose, there are 3 golden rules you should follow no matter what.

  • Drink plenty of water
  • As you already know, the kidneys are one of the most important detoxification organs. Drinking enough is important for our kidneys. They have the task of cleansing our blood of toxins. On average, the body needs about 2 to 3 litres per day.

  • Get enough sleep
  • Sleeping is very important, because during sleep the important detoxification organs are particularly active. If we suffer from a lack of sleep, our body automatically suffers as well. This is because the toxins that have accumulated over the day are broken down less easily.

  • Get moving
  • We recommend that you do light exercise and yoga during the detox. This is because proper breathing also plays an important role in detoxifying the body: deep inhalation and exhalation through the nose and mouth supports the circulation of blood to our detoxification organs.
