In our previous blog post about the company we offered you a small glimpse into life at AAVALABS. Today we want to give you the opportunity to get to know us a little bit better. We asked our team members about their experience at AAVALABS. This is what they had to say.

Lisa alias Libby, Head of Product Development

Libby, our Head of Product development, is based in Australia. At AAVALABS she is in charge of new product formulations, regulatory checks and quality control amongst other things.

What do you like about working for AAVALABS?

The team, flexibility and challenge of the role - not your standard 9 - 5 office politics and even though we are remote the team connects really well and there is a large range of support. It's a fast-changing environment as well and the flexibility of having your choice to work in the hours when your most productive is great.

How did working remotely affect you?

Positively. Having worked in office-based roles early in my career it was demotivating being in an office cubicle all day. Remote work is definitely true work/ life balance - an office-based role could never provide that.

What's your favorite product and why?

Vegan Omega - it's a great alternative to standard fish oil with a high DHA content where most animal-based fish oils are higher EPA. I find it helps me focus more effectively.

Tommi, Head of Finance

Tommi is based in Finland and is the numbers guy at AAVALABS. He is responsible for financial planning and calculations. In typical Finnish manner his answers are short ;)

What do you like about working for AAVALABS?

The team is all in all, a group of nice people making it nice to push forward.

How did working remotely affect you?

It demands a certain rhythm but creates opportunities for traveling.

What's your favorite product and why?

Vitamin D3, helps to keep the spirit up during the dark Finnish winter.

Carlota, HR Manager

Carlota is the HR manager at AAVALABS. She is based in Madrid and a real pro when it comes to finding the right talent for our team and making sure things like onboarding run smoothly within the organization.

What do you like about working for AAVALABS?

The combination of cultures within the team, people from Australia, Philippines, UK, Finland, Italy, Germany - we have it all! That helps you grow as a professional, especially as an HR person. Managing different cultures is a challenge for me and I really enjoy it.

How did working remotely affect you?

It gives me the freedom of working when it is most suitable for me. Yes, we do meetings, but the rest of the time, I can really organise how I work and prioritise my time. That is a life-changing benefit! Goodbye to commuting hours, goodbye to choosing between personal life and a career.

What's your favorite product and why?

I haven't had the opportunity to try them all yet, but Probiolac is what is really helping me right now. I have been traveling a lot and not always eating healthy :). It has helped with that part of my life.

Olena, Amazon PPC specialist

Olena is originally from Ukraine but loves surfing the world and exploring new places.

What do you like about working for AAVALABS?

Friendly, healthy space with transparent values and high-level goals to improve the peoples' quality of life

How did working remotely affect you?

Exclusively positively, freeing my potential and allowing to be productive on 200%.

What's your favorite product and why?

Fullnesium. It makes me relaxed and focused at the same time, creating a perfect balance.

Maja, Digital marketing manager

Our digital marketer Maja is based in Krakow, Poland. At AAVALABS she is responsible for anything related to digital marketing and campaigns.

What do you like about working for AAVALABS

Working with passionate individuals and learning about their cultures.

How did working remotely affect you?

Working remotely taught me how to be more organised. I've also learned to always keep a laptop charger on hand :)

What's your favorite product and why?

Vegan Omega 3 - I never used to take the Omega 3, because I don't like the "fishy" aspect of it. Thanks to Vegan Omega 3, I can now enjoy the benefits of Omega 3.

Iryna, Operations Coordinator

Iryna, originally from Ukraine, coordinates operations and has an eye on anything related to inventory and supply chain management at AAVALABS.

What do you like about working for AAVALABS?

Amazing team, structure, positive atmosphere.

How did working remotely affect you?

I have more flexibility and time to focus on my personal stuff (no need to waste your life in traffic). Sometimes having your "office" at home does not let you be 100% relaxed, but the good part is that there is less distraction and no unnecessary "coffee/tea talks" + possibility to work with your own flow.

What's your favorite product and why?

Omega 3 (I have only tried Omega, Turmeric and Vitamin C, so Omega is best among those) - gives great support to my body engine while training

Eetu, Head of Amazon

Eetu, our Amazon expert, is originally from Finland but lives in Prague.

What do you like about working for AAVALABS?

I like working with the great group of people we have in the company.

How did working remotely affect you?

Working remotely allows more freedom and flexibility. You can make the best possible work environment for yourself.

What's your favorite product and why?

Vegan Omega 3 - it's a great alternative to regular Fish oil products.

One mission, many voices

These were a few examples of what some of our team members think about remote work.

As free spirits, most of us enjoy the freedom of working location independently and following their personal routines, hobbies and interests without the restrictions that regular full-time jobs often bring along. One book that has inspired our working style is “Remote: Office Not Required” by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson (in case you want to learn more about this lifestyle).

Currently, our team is not very big, but it's growing at a comfortable and mindful pace, like a joukkue (Finnish = team) should.

What unites us is our common goal. We want to provide a healthier every day for the many people by giving them a piece of the Nordics.

Why is Omega-3 so important for health?

Do you eat fish at least 2 times a week?

No? Then you're not the only one! The WHO estimates that more than 70 percent of the population suffers from an omega-3 deficiency. Yet the intake of omega-3 is extremely important, as it has many effects on our health.

What many people do not know is that the balance between omega-3 and omega-6 is significant. These two are among the essential fats that we must consume in our diet, since our bodies cannot produce them on their own.
