Here at AAVALABS women have always played an important role. In fact, more than half of our international team members are currently women, and many of them are holding key positions.

Today we want to celebrate all of the wonderful women in the company. We asked some of our team members what inspires them in their day to the day life.

What inspires you? Read what the ladies at AAVALABS responded

Diana, Customer Happiness Lead

Diana is the head of our Customer Happiness teambased in Spain. She loves doing abstract surrealism painting and drawing in her free time.

What inspires you?

The possibility to create things from scratch and team-work.

Do you have any female role model that inspires you?

In my close family environment, my mum, grandmothers and sisters. Different women in different generations, who have been able to adapt to changes, lived in different countries and built a strong and unified family.

What gives you strength?

Spending time with my family and myself...nature and sun!

What do you do for self-care?

I have a healthy lifestyle in general, eating balanced, moving my body and doing "personal growth activities".

Libby, Head of Product Development

Libby is the mastermind behind our product formulas. She is based in Australia and loves to spend her free time with outdoor activities.

What inspires you?

The notion that every day I can change someone's life by creating something natural, clinical and effective, either through product design and nutrition.

Do you have any female role model that inspires you?

Christine Holgate Former CEO of Blackmores  - from homeless to top female CEO of a global market leading Health company, having worked with her, her personal story helps empower, enlighten and motivate me to be able to push the barriers women face in business and in life with remaining humble, yet determined but never losing sight of yourself and identity.

What gives you strength?

Exercise - if you work the body you support your mind. Find something that is not 'routine' but something you may not necessarily be good at but with hard work and consistency you can excel in.

What do you do for self-care?

Prioritize myself, not others and not work. We live in a world where we begin to live to work, not work to live - my idea is that if we prioritize our body and minds, it will support us both on a physical and mental level more than any other "priority" will.

Louise, HR Manager

Louise, originally from Brazil, lives in Singapore. She is passionate about different cultures and cuisines.

What inspires you?

What inspires me is to see people embracing their uniqueness, strengths, weaknesses and being happy with themselves.

Do you have any female role model that inspires you?

My role mother is my mom. She is so unique and unapologetic about her personality and passions… It really inspires me to be myself and don’t look for validation from others.

What gives you strength?

Physical, a long walk close to nature. Mentally, disconnecting from screens, reading a novel with a good cup of tea.

What do you do for self-care?

I try to listen to my body and treat myself with an extra hour of sleep, a nice massage, sweets treats from time to time. Also, keep a small notebook where I write things that I’m proud of achieving.

Yanina, Customer Happiness Support

What inspires you?

To see young generations fighting in the streets for a better future.

Do you have any female role model that inspires you?

In general I'm inspired by everyday women (also my female colleagues here in AAVA). But one in particular that inspires me a lot is Greta Thumberg. I like that she has created awareness about climate change not only among people of her generation, but especially on older generations. And she does so by showing that being a sensitive person and caring is actually a great power!

What gives you strength?

Journaling and digital detox help my mental health a lot lately.

What do you do for self-care?

I talk to my psychologist weekly, in spring I like riding my bike. And I eat ice cream whenever I can! :)

Serena, Executive Assistant

Serena is based in Italy and makes sure everything runs smoothly at AAVALABS. She is passionate about travel, good food and pilates.

What inspires you?

Learning new things and proving myself with challenges are usually things that really motivate me.

Do you have any female role model that inspires you?

I'm going to copy Diana on this.

What gives you strength?

Mental strength comes from my family and from spending relaxing time together, in nature whenever possible. Physical strength for me comes from regular exercise.

What do you do for self-care?

I do pilates and try to have a balanced diet made of all natural foods that are cooked from scratch.

Lenara, Amazon team

What inspires you?

People who surround me. I like talking to the people who are close to me, it always inspires me a lot!

Do you have any female role model that inspires you?

I personally don’t like the idea of role models. I think that everyone is really special and has all the strength to create their own fairytale.

What gives you strength?

I feel full of energy when everyone whom I love is happy and healthy. If I feel worried for any reason then I know that I just need a plan. And also it’s really good sometimes to look at what you already have in your life and understand how many great things are ahead.

What do you do for self-care?

I always try to have time for myself even if I have a tough schedule. I think having some small everyday routines when it’s only time for yourself - is really important. And having a healthy lifestyle is really important too.

We are stronger together

We hope we could inspire you with our article. What stood out in the answers is the fact that we all have the power to drive positive change.

Poet and essayist Adrienne Rich once wrote: “The most important thing one woman can do for another is expand her sense of actual possibilities.”

That happens almost automatically if you build healthy routines that include self-care. When you feel calm, confident and supported by your community as a woman, you will be able to uplift women around you, just by being you. Remember: Together we are strong. Together we can work towards more equality worldwide.

Here at AAVALABS we hope to support you on your journey by giving you the necessary tools to stay healthy physically and mentally.

6 easy ways to support your gut health

Did you know that you have about 100 trillion bacteria in your body?

That might sound a bit scary at first, because we associate the word bacteria with something negative. But bacteria are actually essential for our survival and take over important tasks in our body. Most bacteria are found in our intestines, more specifically in the colon. Intestinal flora or intestinal microbiota is the term used to describe the totality of microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, etc.) that colonize the intestine.

We distinguish between good and bad bacteria: The good bacteria are enormously important for health. However, certain types of bacteria in your gut can also contribute to many diseases.

Studies have found that if you have too many of the negative bacteria in your body, you are more likely to suffer from certain intestinal diseases, such as Crohn's disease and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

What's interesting is that the food you eat has a big impact on your gut flora.
